Dance :: Illustration Friday

"High Flight"

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

beautiful sunset lighting!! lovely illo!

Beautiful sunset...

'And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings'

What a lovely way to put it...

Now that is THE unique interpretation of the theme. Very nice!

Like your synthetic style. I wish I made something, using PC and still would be mine. Just like yours... UHM. (noooo I'm not jealous, why? :D )

I haven't been here in a while, and I loved this illo as well as all the previous ones. I especailly liked the portrait...reminds me of the Norman Rockwell self portrait, but gosh, what an advance since paint brush and canvas.

You have such a neat sense of humor and design.

Very peaceful dance... almost a surreal sky. Beautiful.

So calm and beautiful, i'm sure i'd never want to come down, wonderful poem as well. Excellent piece!

Well done! Mustang?

It reminds me of a Film I wathced recently here in the UK about the bermuda triangle. I love the colour of the sky.

I decided not to leave a comment this week just because I'm envious of the interpretation and execution here. So don't expect any complements on this wonderfully lighted and rendered piece! I simply refuse to acknowledge when you come up with something this incredible. So there. /:-P

Wow, what a mood you've created. Even without the poem it's a profound piece. Amazing work!

Wow! Very nice!
